Salon Safety Standards

To prevent the spread of infection, technicians must follow three distinct steps:

  1. Cleaning: Removing visible dirt with soap and water.
  2. Disinfection: Using EPA-registered chemicals to kill most bacteria and viruses on non-porous surfaces.
  3. Sterilization: The use of an Autoclave to destroy ALL microbial life, including spores.

Note: Multi-use tools (metal) must be disinfected, while single-use tools (files, buffers) must be discarded after every client.
